Range Riders mix work and fun for good cause

Shattered Dreams chairperson Suzanne Loudamy accepts a donation of $2,802 from the Whitehouse Range Riders. The money is a portion of the groups proceeds from its Car, Truck and Bike Show at YesterYear.
While the Whitehouse Range Riders Motorcycle Club really enjoys what they do, they know how to have a good time and help out a good cause at the same time. And they proved it with the success of their recent car, truck and bike show during YesterYear.

The group chose to champion the "Shattered Dreams" program, held at Whitehouse High School every other year.

Unique in its design and powerful in its impact, "Shattered Dreams" is an educational experience that reminds us all of the dangers associated with drinking and driving. It reminds us that too many young lives have already been lost and countless others severely impaired because of the tragic consequences of underage drinking and drinking combined with driving. "Shattered Dreams" is about drinking and driving. It's about living and dying.

Stephanie Muller, Cathey Brown, Mike Danielson, Brad Hawkins and many of the other Range Riders worked long and hard to make the show a success. And a success it was. The Range Riders presented a $2,802 to "Shattered Dreams" coordinator Suzanne Loudamy during their August meeting.

With approximately 50 cars and trucks, eight motorcycles and two tractors as well as three vendors, the show was indeed a success. The club collected approximately $7,300 worth of prizes, entry fees, raffle ticket sales and cash donations.

"This could not have been possible had it not been for our merchants being so generous and helping us with our cause," said Muller. "For their outpouring generosity - I can't thank them enough. These merchants were from not just our local community but we had numerous merchants from the Tyler area as well as the Bullard area as well."

Muller listed the donors as Chuck Osborn-State Farm, YMCA, Eagle Cleaners, Region's Bank, Brookshire's, Apache Building, Moss Concrete, AU&A-Alan Utz and Associates, Tyler Athletics, Fairway Ford, Creative Candles, Sonic-Whitehouse, Sonic- Bullard, ETMC, Bayou Grill, Great Clips, Chick-Fil-A, Ashley Furniture, Rough and Ready Outfitters, Whitehouse Flowers Shop, Rib Masters, The Market, LaHacienda, Total Touch Nail and Hair Salon, Tyler Beverages, Simple Simons, Brad's Transmission, Hickory Fair Bar- B-Que, Super Lube, Movie Gallery, Batteries Plus, Judy and Kurt Kunzman, Royal Lube, Scooter Pete's Motorcycle Shop, Bassett, Furniture, J&M Trophy and Traditions Restaurant.

Also on hand during the show to visit with the crowd and sign autographs were Earl Campbell, TJC baseball coach Jon Groth and championship team players.
