NATIONAL NIGHT OUT
Seven host community get-togethers

With temperatures slightly cooler than a typical August night, neighbors brought over lawn chairs and cookies and enjoyed visiting during the 2007 National Night Out.

Seven homes in Whitehouse hosted gatherings in their neighborhoods. Many were new to the NNO tradition. One of those was the party meeting behind the First Assembly of God Church at the corner of Hwy 110S and Nunn Street.

Pastor Michael Fleming said they had a great backyard and thought they should join the community in getting to know the neighbors better and sharing some good food and fun.

The Psencik family on Hagan Road tops the list in years hosting parties. Kathy and Ernie have hosted 12 NNO gatherings at their home, and Kathy has the photos to prove it. Neighbors enjoyed looking at the posters Kathy has put together of each year's event.

"We just really have a great time getting together with our friends and neighbors," Kathy said.

Det. Mar y Pyle of the Whitehouse Police Department said the participation was excellent this year. She was a bit worried at first. Last week there were only three homes signed up, but by Tuesday, there were seven.
