Hilltop hosts Sunburn Open

The Whitehouse Scrappers Select Baseball Team (all fifth and sixth graders from Holloway Middle School) competed in a tournament last weekend in Pittsburg. The Scrappers beat the Sulphur Springs Cats in the championship game, 6-2. Hilltop Country Club in Troup recently held an 18-hole Sunburn Open (low-ball handicap).

Finishing first in the "A" flight with a 58 were Greg Hamilton and Kevin Childress, followed by Billy Fuller and Roger Chesley, 61, second, and Brad Hall and Jack Langston, 61, third.

In the "B" flight, the top three finishers all recorded a 60. Teams were Tracy Ainsworth and Steve Hilburn, first; Larry Pittillo and Pat Moore, second; and Davy Hamilton and John Knowles, third.

Greg Hamilton earned closest to the hole on number six.

WH taking program orders

The Whitehouse Athletic Booster Club is now taking orders for the football program for the upcoming season. You may pick up a form from the athletic office at the high school. The deadline is August 15. For more information, call 903-839-5538.

Scramble results reported

Hilltop Country Club has released the results from the July 30th Tuesday senior scramble.

Taking first place, with a five-under par score, were Ron Dohse, Doug Young, Elmer Sadler and Billie Sadler.

Also shooting five-under was the second-place team of Billy Cooper, Stan Wilkinson, Don McPherson and Jack Gowen.

In third place were Dan Whitaker, George Curtin, Morris Crymes and Gerald Shields with a four-under par score.

Wilkinson hit closest to the hole on number six, and Turner on number eight.

The winning team shot a six-under par score to capture the Thursday afternoon scramble at Hilltop Country Club on Aug. 2.

First place team members were Cory Caraway, Will Langston, Brian Starnes and Alex Turner.

Finishing second with a five-under par score were Matt Shoffer, Jon Berry, Andy Jarvis and Bill Luce.

Shooting two-under for third place were Steven Lambert, Davy Hamilton, Eric Maldonado and M.A. Ghene.

Shoffer hit closest to the hole on number six.

Wildcat season tickets on sale

Whitehouse High School season football tickets are on sale in the Athletic Office through Aug. 24.

A season ticket packet contains tickets to five home games.
