Mays, Price exchange vows

Mrs. Michael Steven Price
Sara Elizabeth Mays and Michael Steven Price were united in marriage on Aug. 11, 2007 in an evening ceremony at Oak Forest Church of Christ in Goldsboro, N.C. Bro. Lennie Reagan from Oak Forest Church of Christ officiated the double-ring ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Dennis and Becky Mays of Selma, N.C. She is the granddaughter of R.J. and Navoleine Roddy of Troup.

The bride graduated from North Johnston High School in Kenly, N.C., in 2004 and is a senior nursing major at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. She works as an assistant manager at the Children's Place in Wilmington.

The groom is the son of Carson and Gayle Price of Selma, N.C. He also graduated from North Johnston High School and is a senior information systems major at UNC in Wilmington. He works as a lab technician at SGS Analytical Laboratories in Wilmington.

Escorted by her father, the bride wore a platinum white Aline dress, featuring a teardrop neckline in the front, sleeveless lace shoulder straps and a keyhole lace back. The straps and back were accented with sequins, pearls and satin buttons.

The gown had a tulle overlay and a semi-cathedral train embellished with lace appliqués and hand-beaded with sequins and pearls. The train was trimmed with scalloped lace.

The bride wore a tiara of rhinestones and pearls and a fingertip length veil accented with silver beading around the bottom. She carried a clutch bouquet of stargazers, pink and white roses, green hydrangeas, white stephanotis with pearl heads, pink astro and pink astilbe. The stems were wrapped with sheer white ribbon and accented with pearls down the stems. Her greatgrandmothers' rings dangled from ribbons attached at the top of the stems.

The church was decorated with Grecian columns covered in tulle and ivy and topped with flowers. The stage was lit by six candelabras, and tulle was draped so as to connect the ends of each pew.

Music for the ceremony was provided by keyboardist Sean McDonald of Rocky Mount, N.C., and vocalists Susan Arnold of Pikeville, N.C., and Stephen Church of Carthage, N.C. A special song, "In the Beginning," written for the bride's parents' wedding by her aunt, Rita Reinsch of Mesquite, was sung during the wedding.

In addition to the Roddys, eight other members of the bride's family from Texas attended. A memorial candle was lit in honor of her late grandparents, Romy and Nora Lee Mays of Coahoma.

The bride was attended by friend Faith Davis ad maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Dana Mays, sister-in-law of the bride; Sara Beth Price, sister-in-law of the groom; Ashley Barnes, sister of the groom; Samantha Lasater, friend of the bride; Jessica Gray, friend of the bride; Lindsey Conner, family friend of the bride; and Brenna Conner, family friend of the bride.

Siri Hull, family friend of the bride, served as flower girl, and Jordan Mays, niece of the bride, was honorary flower girl.

The groom's father, Carson Price, ser ved as best man. Groomsmen were Eric Price, brother of the groom; Joshua Mays, brother of the bride; Matthew Mays, brother of the bride; Stephen Hollingsworth, friend of the groom; Brandon Batten, friend of the groom; Will Murphy, friend of the groom; and Michael Stephenson, friend of the groom.

Ser ving as ushers were Randy Conner, family friend of the bride, and Ryan Fitzgerald, future brother-in-law of the groom. Bryce Hall, family friend of the bride, was ring bearer.

A reception followed at Lane Tree Country Club. Members of the houseparty were Tracie Wilson, Caryn Reagan, Marquita Wallace, Leah Conner and Janice and Greg Quinton. Older members of the bride's Teenage Girls Wednesday Night Bible class also served at the reception: Victoria Tyler, Allie Reagan, Erica and Jessica Strahin and Rebecca Jenkins.

Following a seven-day cruise to the South Caribbean, the couple will be at home in Wilmington.
