WH senior participates in Honors Symposium
      Joanna Blake of Whitehouse is getting a head start on her first year of college. Blake, who will be a senior at Whitehouse High School this fall, earned three hours of university credit this summer by participating in Harding University's Honor Symposium, a challenging two-week academic program.

      Tyler Junior College presented pins to 36 students in the evening vocational nurse education program during a ceremony Aug. 9 in Wise Auditorium on the TJC main campus.

WJHS yearbook sale begins Aug. 27
      Yearbooks will run on sale at the registration price of $35 for the basic book Aug. 27 through Sept 7. Name-stamping and icons are extra. Forms are available in the north or south offices or in Room 103N. The next sale will be after Sept.

High school transition eased by annual camp
      A large number of freshmen got their feet wet as they ventured into the new world of high school this week during Whitehouse High School's fish camp. With a sea-faring "Pirates of the Caribbean" theme, a treasure chest filled with prizes, activities and information was the catch of the day.
