Community Activities

Parkinsonians of East Texas meeting

Parkinsonians of East Texas will meet Thursday, Aug. 23 at 2 p.m. at East Texas Medical Center Pavilion, 801 Clinic Dr., Tyler. The speaker will be Gene Ann Masters, Clinical Ed. Director. His topic will be "Growing older is not for sissies." Parking is free for the meeting.

Salad luncheon set at Troup library

The public is invited to attend a salad and dessert luncheon on Sunday, Aug. 26 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Cameron - J. Jarvis Troup Municipal Library. This is a fund-raising event for Friends of the Library as well as the Troup Genealogy and Historical Society to help with the expense of publishing the upcoming book "The History of Troup." Tickets are available at the library, Steele's Feed and Seed or members of these groups.

Whitehouse library activities

There will be a prize auction held Aug. 25 as the finale of the summer reading program. Story time will start Wednesday, Sept. 5 at 10:30 a.m. Regular library hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday noon to 6 p.m. and Saturday 11-4. Questions? School Activities

Troup Elem sets 'Meet the Teacher'

Troup Elementary will have "Meet the Teacher" on Friday, Aug. 24 from 3:30-5 p.m. Teachers and class lists will be posted at the K-2 building and the Intermediate building (3rd-5th).

Sports Related Activities

Meet the Cats

Come out and meet the students who will be participating in fall sports at Whitehouse High School. The following will be recognized: band, cheerleaders, cross-country, drill team, football, trainers and volleyball. This event is set for Thursday, Aug. 23 6:30 p.m. in the WHS arena. A hamburger supper can be purchased afterwards for $5.00.

Meet the Tigers

Come out and meet the students who will be participating in fall sports at Troup High School. The following will be recognized: band, cheerleaders, cross-country, football, trainers and volleyball. This event is set for Friday, Aug. 24 6 p.m. in the THS stadium. A hotdog supper will precede the event.

Government Activities

Troup City Council to meet

Three special called meetings of the Troup City Council are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 23, Monday, Aug. 27 and Thursday, Aug. 30. These are the public hearings for citizen participation concerning the proposed tax rate and budget. The meetings will be held at the Troup ISD Administration Office at 201 N. Carolina.

WISD trustees to meet

The Whitehouse ISD trustees will meet on Monday, Aug. 27 at 5:30 p.m. in the Wildcat Drive Annex, 109 Wildcat Drive. This is a public hearing for the purpose of citizen participation concerning the proposed tax rate and budget.

Troup trustees to meet

Troup ISD trustees meet Tuesday, Aug. 28 at 6 p.m. at the Troup ISD Administration Office at 201 N. Carolina. This is a public hearing for the purpose of citizen participation concerning the proposed tax rate and budget.

Whitehouse City Council to meet

Whitehouse City Council will meet Tuesday, Aug. 28 at 6 p.m. in the Whitehouse City Council and Court chambers at 311 E. Main.
