Tigers, Bears get physical

Troup and Gladewater faced off Saturday in a season-opening scrimmage, with both teams playing aggressively ... perhaps a little too aggressivley, as some after-the-whistle flags sparked tempers on both sides. See related photos, page 7A.

Next up for the Tigers is Van, with play scheduled to start at 6 p.m. Thursday in Tiger Stadium.

Troup's first preseason game will be Saturday, Sept. 1 at 7 p.m. against the Sabine Cardi- nals. The game will be played in Gladewater.

The preseason home opener is Friday, Sept. 7 against White Oak.

Troup's fall sports teams, as well as band and cheerleaders, will be recognized Friday at 6 p.m. in Tiger Stadium during Meet the Tigers. A hot dog supper will precede the event.
