JV, freshman Cats scrimmage Bulldogs The Whitehouse JV and freshman football teams got their initial action last Friday night at home with both scrimmaging the Carthage Bulldogs. The JV managed two scores against the Bulldogs while giving up three scores, and the freshman pitched a shutout on defense while scoring once on offense. "I was pleased with our younger teams last night," stated varsity coach Randy McFarlin. "Both groups looked good for their first action of the year and we are looking forward to good years as these young men improve throughout the season," said Coach McFarlin. Coach McFarlin added that both teams are adjusting to having players moved up to the varsity to start the season, and he is looking for new kids to step up and fill those places on both teams. "Our JV team is strong on the defensive front and at linebacker, and we are working on developing some new quarterbacks with that group," McFarlin said. McFarlin was proud of the freshman defense stating that they did a good job shutting down what Carthage coaches believed to be a very good offense. Both the JV and freshman teams start their season at home tonight against Forney with the first game starting at 5 p.m. |
