Whitehouse chapter of Ducks Unlimited gets ready for banquet The Whitehouse Chapter of Ducks Unlimited will host the 70th anniversar y of D.U. at their annual banquet Sept. 18 at the Tyler Oil Palace. Banquet events this year include dinner, silent and live auctions, games and the raf fle. Some of the items will be the D.U. gun of the year, rifles, wildlife prints, sculptures, jewelry, gun cases and an assor tment of outdoor items. Ducks Unlimited conser ves, restores and manages wetlands and associated habitat for North America's waterfowl. These habitats also benefit other wildlife and people. Whitehouse and Tyler work in conjunction on area projects. The Whitehouse Green Wings, members age 18 and under, have placed wood duck houses in various habitats in the area. Whitehouse Ducks Unlimited chapter was organized in 1978 and continues to serve as a standard for wildlife habitat preser vation and restoration. The banquet this year is highlighted by group's 70th anniversary. The chapter has also recently invited women to join the group.
