Ladycats win 2nd in tourney

The Whitehouse Ladycats claimed second place in the Silver bracket of the Tyler Invitational Tournament this past weekend.

The Ladycats competed in the Silver bracket after going 1- 2 in pool play on Friday.

The first match Saturday was against Pleasant Grove, and the Ladycats claimed a victory with scores of 25-20 and 25-17.

The next match was against Athens, and the Ladycats would cruise in the first game before squeaking out a closer second game, 25-13 and 25-22.

With the two wins, the Ladycats entered the bracket finals against Nolan Catholic from Fort Wor th. Whitehouse had fallen to Nolan in pool play the day before and were determined to get revenge.

The first game did not go as planned as Nolan took game one, 14-25. However, the Ladycats came out strong in the second game and held on late to win, 25-21. The third and deciding game saw the Ladycats on the wrong end of the score as they fell, 13-25.

Jordan Knight received All- Tournament honors for her outstanding play as she ended the tournament with 43 total service points and 28 kills.

Joanna Blake would also have a strong performance with 51 points followed by Stephanie Alexander with 49, Sadie Hilburn with 47, and Christine Ford with 32.

The tournament results moved the team's season record to 10-6 headed into district 12-4A play this week.
