Ault wins Hilltop's Labor Day tourney

J.R. Ault finished first in the championship flight of Hilltop Country Club's 59th Annual Labor Day Invitational Tourney.

Joining Ault in the top three were Dean Brown and Dustin Hamilton.

Other flight results were:

President's Flight: Jonathan Hill, first; Mark Smelser, second; Skip turner, third.

First Flight: Mark Davenport, first; Brad Reagan, second; James Tomlin, third.

Second Flight: Johnny Johnson, first; Billy Fuller, second; Jody Holder, third.

Third Flight: Wayne Rainer, first; Gregg Hulsey, second; Jeff Long, third.

Fourth Flight: Mel Burgess, first; Will Langston, second; Ron Welch, third.

Hilltop also released the results from the Thursday afternoon scramble on Aug. 30.

The first place team of Matt Shafer, Chris Walker, Jon Berry, M.A. Ghene and Simon Salinas shot a 9-under par.

In second with 7-under were Jonathan Hill, John Oberg, Drew Dosser and Ron Welch.

Third place went to Brian Starnes, Ron England, Norman Rockett, Lee Childress and Pat Moore with a 6-under score.

Moore was closest to the hole on six, and Hill on eight.
