      Maybe you could call last week's home opener a revenge game for the Whitehouse Wildcats. It was the second game of the 2006 season when Whitehouse traveled to Sulphur Springs and suffered a humbling defeat at the hands of the hometown Wildcats.

      On the road to a district title, a team has to win big matches on the road. The Whitehouse Ladycats got two such wins last week, propelling them to a 2-0 star t in district action.

JV Cats move to 2-0
      The Whitehouse JV picked up a hard fought road win last Thursday by a score of 21-12 over Sulphur Springs. The Whitehouse defense came up with the game's first big play as they stopped Sulphur Springs on a fourth down and 8 from the Whitehouse 15 to turn things over to the offense.

Freshman drop 2 in Sulphur Springs
      The Whitehouse freshman teams lost both games last Thursday in Sulphur Springs. The "B' team fell 21-10 while the "A" team suffered a 29-14 loss. In the "A" game, the Wildcats got on the board early as QB Conner Cashion completed his first two passes of the game.

Tiger JV falls, 18-8
      Despite a late scoring drive, the Troup Tigers junior varsity was unable to close the distance with White Oak, losing 18-8 in a non-district match-up. Quarterback Ryan Nichols scored the lone Tiger touchdown, as well as the two-point conversion.

     Troup's Niecy Stewart nails one of her 14 kills in the Lady Tigers four-game win over Leverett's Chapel last Friday. Stewart also had four blocks, an assist and a dig. The Lady Tigers are at home this Friday against Timpson, with games beginning at 4 p.m.

Road win over Nacogdoches continues JV's perfect record
      The Ladycat JV was victorious last Friday on the road at Nacogdoches, downing the Lady Dragons by scores of 25-21 and 25-18. "I was really proud of our girls. We played our first match without our leading hitter, Abigail Crawford, but we stepped up and found a way to win" said Coach Jon Sheppard.

Cross country teams compete at Tyler Lee
      The Whitehouse 2007 cross country team participated in its first meet Saturday, Sept. 8 at University of Texas at Tyler in the Tyler Lee Classic. The boys 3.1-mile race consisted of 106 participants from 4A and 5A schools, and the girls two-mile race had 90 participants.
