'American Girl' Reading Club meets Saturday at Tyler library

On Saturday, Sept. 15, girls age five to 12 are invited to gather at the Tyler Public Library from 10 a.m. to noon for another meeting of the American Girl Reading Club.

September's meeting will highlight the American Girl Book: Changes for Kirsten. The novel tells the continuing saga of Kirsten Larson, a girl who leaves all she's ever known to travel from Sweden and settle with her family on the Minnesota frontier of the 1850s.

At each monthly meeting, girls explore history through foods, games, crafts and other activities suggested by the American Girl book and character. A special treat in September will be lessons in square dancing.

The American Girl Reading Club generally meets on the third Saturday of each month in the Library's Taylor Auditorium, 201 S. College. The public is welcome, and no registration or fees are required.
