Ladycats begin district play 2-0

On the road to a district title, a team has to win big matches on the road. The Whitehouse Ladycats got two such wins last week, propelling them to a 2-0 star t in district action.

The Ladycats opened district play with a victory over Kilgore last Tuesday with scores of 25-18, 25-19, and 25- 14.

Stephanie Alexander led the way in service points with 32 while providing 6 digs. Christine Ford led the Ladycats in kills on the night with 11 and added 13 service points and 8 assists.

Sadie Hilburn led the defensive surge with 12 digs and contributed 5 kills while Katy Kidwell contributed 8 kills and 12 points. Jordan Knight contributed 10 points and 6 kills. Joanna Blake ran the Ladycat offense dishing out 19 assists and 6 points.

An even more crucial road win came on Friday, with the Ladycats securing a come-frombehind win.

After dropping the first game 24-26, the Ladycats fought back strong to take the next three games 25-22, 25-16, and 25-18 for a big road win over the Lady Dragons in Nacogdoches.

With outside hitter Sadie Hilburn out due to sickness, the Ladycats would get big contributions from Stephanie Alexander with 11 kills and 20 points on the night and Christine Ford with 9 kills and 17 points.

Katy Kidwell and Jordan Knight would also come up big for the match with 15 and 13 points, respectively, while Joanna Blake would run a precision offensive attack with 18 assists and 18 points on the night.
