The Whitehouse JV picked up a hard fought road win last Thursday by a score of 21-12 over Sulphur Springs.
The Whitehouse defense came up with the game's first big play as they stopped Sulphur Springs on a fourth down and 8 from the Whitehouse 15 to turn things over to the offense.
The offense wasted little time taking advantage of the defensive stand as QB Preston Conder threw a quick swing pass out to Kevin Hickman, and Hickman got to the sideline and headed all the way to the Sulphur Springs' 38-yard line.
Chad Lewis then galloped to the 20-yard line setting up a 15- yard TD pass from Conder to Jamie Antu, and with Julio Aleman's PAT, the Cats took the early 7-0 lead.
The Wildcats did not score again until the second quarter as they started a drive from their own 32-yard line.
Lewis took a screen pass and raced 60 yards to the 16-yard line, which led to a big fourth down completion from Conder to Garrett Ehrman on a slant route for a 15-yard TD to extend the lead to 14-0.
It was the defense's turn to get into the action next as cornerback, Chris Smith, picked off an errant pass and returned it to the home team's 18-yard line. This led to a 3-yard TD run by Lewis to extend the Wildcat lead to 21-0 at the half.
The second half became a test of wills as the Sulphur Springs defense stiffened to keep Whitehouse off the board. Sulphur Springs managed to score two touchdowns to make the final score respectable, 21- 12.
The JV is back in action tonight at Wildcat Stadium as they strive to keep their record unblemished against Mabank.
