Despite a late scoring drive, the Troup Tigers junior varsity was unable to close the distance with White Oak, losing 18-8 in a non-district match-up.

Quarterback Ryan Nichols scored the lone Tiger touchdown, as well as the two-point conversion.

The score came with 3:08 left in the fourth quarter, with the White Oak JV leading 12-0. The drive was sparked by a 40- yard kickoff return by Sir'derek Cassells, giving the Tigers a first and 10 on the White Oak 40-yard line.

Tiger running backs Casey Rhinehart and Ke'Andre Davis helped move the team down to the Roughneck 2-yard line, setting up the QB keeper. Nichols also added the two-point conversion, finding running room around the right side to make the score 12-8.

Before the Tigers could build on that momentum, however, White Oak struck back, scoring on a 70-yard run from scrimCaleb mage at the 1:54 mark. The Roughnecks third two-point conversion attempt on the night failed, making the final score 18- 8 in White Oak's favor.

An earlier attempt at a twopoint conversion was spoiled by a nice defensive play by Chance Tosh, who broke up the pass and nearly came down with an interception.

Troup Middle School Tigers will be introduced during Meet the Tigers on Thursday, Sept. 13 at Tiger Stadium. Hot dogs will be served at 5:30 p.m. with the program beginning at 6:30. Middle school band, cheerleaders, volleyball players, football players and coaches will be on hand for the event.
