Subvarsity teams take first, second at Longview tourney
Road win over Nacogdoches continues JV's perfect record

The Ladycat JV was victorious last Friday on the road at Nacogdoches, downing the Lady Dragons by scores of 25-21 and 25-18. "I was really proud of our girls. We played our first match without our leading hitter, Abigail Crawford, but we stepped up and found a way to win" said Coach Jon Sheppard.
The freshman Ladycats also came away from Nacogdoches with a 25-19, 14-25, 15-11 match win over the Lady Dragons.
Both teams competed this past weekend in the Longview tournament with the freshmen claiming second place and the JV taking home the championship and protecting a perfect season.
The freshmen defeated Sulphur Springs 25-18 and 25-22 and then followed with a close match over Longview 27-25, 22-25, and 25-23. That would put them into the championship where they were defeated by Paris North Lamar in a tough match 25-14, 14- 25, and 21-25.
The JV started out with an easy win over Sulphur Springs 25- 10, 25-8 before toughing out the next match over Pine Tree 25-23 and 25-21. That would lead to a championship victory over North Lamar by the scores of 25-19 and 25-20.
Leading scorers for the JV were Sarah Stanley with 67 points for the tournament including 17 kills and 41 assists, Jori Patterson with 42 points, Ashley Crank with 38 points and 39 assists, and Abigail Crawford with 27 points including a team high 27 kills.
Bailey McCain also contributed 20 points in the tournament while Mallory Smith added 21 points including 13 kills.
