'Great Big Book Sale' preview set tonight

There are tons of books scheduled to be sold at the Whitehouse Community Library's sale, beginning Thursday and continuing through Saturday.
Get ready book lovers ... the Whitehouse Community Library's first "Great Big Book Sale" begins Thursday, Sept. 20 with a special preview and continues Friday and Saturday.

The library is selling books by the inch. Books will be laid flat and stacked and the height of the stack measured by the inch. The minimum purchase will be $1.

Anything over an inch will be charged to the next dollar. No cents will be used in this sale -- only dollars.

Tonight's preview is from 7 to 9 p.m. and gives those purchasing a $5 ticket the chance to have first access to sale items. A light snack is also included.

Tickets are available at the library and will be available at the door the night of the preview.

The sale continues from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 21 and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 22.

Although the event is billed as the Great Big Book Sale, much more than books will be available. The Library is selling books on CD and cassette tape, movies (both DVD and VHS format), some computer monitors and computers, and books, books, books.

Some books are brand-new, both children and adult. Some books have been removed from the library and some are just used. The library has books that are rare and books that just bring back good memories.

"No matter what they are," said library director Sandra Knackstedt, "they have to go. Once the sale is over this library will be clutter free -- everything that is not needed is going."

Only limited library access will be available on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

The Library will be open its normal hours Friday from noon to 6 PM and Saturday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., but the Library will also be open beginning at 9 a.m. on both days for the sale.
