Verna Lea Zaiontz

ATHENS - Services for Verna Lea Zaiontz, 62, of Athens were held Sept. 15 at St. John Lutheran Church, Athens, with Dr. Fred Rogers officiating.

Burial was in Davis Cemetery under direction of Cooper Funeral Home, Athens.

Mrs. Zaiontz died Sept. 12, 2007 at her residence.

She was born Feb. 25, 1945 in San Antonio to the late Henry and Edith Lorean Byrom Yarbrough.

She grew up and attended school in San Antonio and lived in the Dallas/Fort Worth area for many years.

She retired to Henderson County in 2002 and was a member of St. John Lutheran Church.

She was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Edward Zaiontz.

Survivors include her husband of 43 years, Harry Edward Zaiontz, Athens; daughters, Suzanne Thornton, Lilbert, and Annette Zaiontz, Nacogdoches; son, Harry Edward Zaiontz Jr., Cushing; brothers, Frank Yarbrough, California, and Henry Yarbrough, San Antonio; sisters, Lucille Hurley, Lewisville, Shirley Harless, Oklahoma, Mary Laska, Whitehouse, and Geraldine Turner, San Antonio; and eight grandchildren.
