Representative Leo Berman traveled to the Troup Middle School campus on Tuesday for a special presentation to Principal Ava Johnson.

Berman congratulated Johnson on the accomplishments of her campus.

Troup Middle School has received Recognized status three times in a row and is the only three-time Recognized middle school in Smith County.

"This is a Texas flag that flew over the state capitol on June 14, 2007, which is Flag Day," Berman said. "I hope you will display it with pride."

Johnson was quick to give credit to her staf f, students and school board for the continued success at the middle school.

"I don't do this alone," Johnson said. "Achievement is not an option. We all do our part and expect the best from our students."

Johnson said the school has a new display case at the front of the school for academics. She said the school will proudly display the special Texas flag there.
