Ladycats roll by district foes PT, Henderson
      The Ladycat varsity volleyball team continued to roll through District 12-4A play last week with two more big victories. On Tuesday, the Ladycats rolled into Pine Tree to face the district rival Lady Pirates. Past years have found Pine Tree to be a difficult place to play, but not this year!

Troup falls short against Panthers
      A third-quarter surge gave Troup the lead heading into the final quarter Friday night in Bullard, but the eight-point margin was quickly eclipsed as the Panthers scored 21 unanswered points to hand the Tigers their second straight loss, 34-21.

      Despite several turnovers, the Tiger JV squad recorded a come-from-behind win over the Bullard Panthers last Thursday. Lady Tigers start 4-1 in conference play
      Troup's Lady Tigers rebounded from their first district loss to Tatum last Tuesday with a victory over Timpson Friday. Troup won handily in three games, 25-12, 25-16 and 25-7. The loss to Tatum (25-14, 25- 17, 25-20) spoiled Troup's 3-0 start in district play.

Ladycats split with Kilgore
      The Whitehouse Ladycat eighth grade was in action on Monday, Sept. 17 against the Lady Bulldogs from Kilgore. In the "B" game, the Ladycats fought for a hard three game match victory by scores of 25-13, 18-25, and 25-19.

CC teams compete at Pine Tree
      The Whitehouse High School Cross Country teams participated in the Pine Tree meet on Saturday, Sept. 22. The race was held at Katy Ranch near Kilgore in the freshly mowed fields amongst the hay bales. The girls two-mile race had 89 participants, and the WHS girls team placed seventh.

TMS volleyball sweeps Waskom
      The middle school Lady Tigers had a strong showing Monday, with all three teams defeating their Waskom counterparts. The eighth grade "A" team started things off on the right note with a 25-7, 25-2 win. Ashley Walker earned player of the week honors for the eighth grade.

      Wildcats prowled the halls of Higgins Intermediate School last week as WHS football players made some new friends and received a boost of support heading into the Friday's district opener against Kilgore.

Tyler Parks and Rec to offer kayak outing
      The Tyler Parks and Recreation Department will be offering an advanced kayaking outing from 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 13 at Tyler State Park. Guest instructor Jerr y Cruse will teach participants kayaking techniques, open water rescue and more.
