Mt. Carmel Baptist hosting Spiritual Renewal 2007 Sunday begins the Spiritual Renewal 2007 services at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. "We want to offer people a time to come together in a real worship experience…a time to truly praise God," Pastor Bennie Portwood said. "It will be a casual atmosphere, not your typical church service." Jerry Page will be leading worship along with Amy Stockwell. Mrs. Stockwell is an anointed worship leader, inspirational soloist, and Bible teacher whose ministry in mu- sic, drama and teaching has touched thousands of lives. The event's guest speaker is David Stockwell. Stockwell began his ministry at the age of 17 when he received Christ after attending a Fellowship of Christian Athletes conference in Baton Rouge, La. He immediately felt the call of evangelism on his life and began preaching the Gospel in schools, churches and in public arenas. The days and nights of the Spiritual Renewal will be filled with opportunities for everyone. Services are scheduled for Sunday at 10:55 a.m. and 6 p.m., with Monday and Tuesday services beginning at 7 p.m. Following the services on Sunday night, an ice cream social will be held. Monday morning, beginning at 6:30 a.m., a free men's breakfast will start the day. Before the services that night, children are invited to a hot dog supper for grades first through sixth. Tuesday offers a ladies luncheon with Amy Stockwell as the speaker. Beginning at 11:30 a.m., Mrs. Stockwell will sing and share from God's word in the Worship Center with a salad and dessert luncheon following in the Family Life Center. This event will be free of charge, but reservations should be made by calling the church office at 903-839-2606 by noon Monday, Oct. 1, so preparations can be made. "If the wind has gone out of your sails," Pastor Portwood said, "we want to tell the whole community, God is ready to fill your sails at Spiritual Renewal 2007!" |
