Janet Milam, Brown Elementary teacher, and Valencia Ray, assistant principal at Higgins Intermediate School, were guests at the Keep Whitehouse Beautiful planning meeting at the Bayou Grill on Sept. 21. Both received certificates for their efforts to beautify their campuses with funds provided by KWB. Milam planted two crepe myrtle, nandina, lantana, and dwarf yaupon holly at the south entrance to Brown Elementary, and a Chinese pistachio tree on the median in the east parking lot. Ray expanded the existing flower bed at the front entrance to Higgins Intermediate. Plants include oleanders, crepe myrtle, holly, lirope, annuals, and miniature gardenia bushes. Pictured with Milam and Ray is KWB's Dorothy LaFlure.
