Troup Elementary teacher Barbara Barton (second from left) was honored with a retirement reception Monday. Barton has been a full-time teacher for 16 years, as well as serving as a substitute for two years. Pictured with her above are (left to right) former elementary principal Gay Barron; Rex Thompson, who taught fifth grade with Barton and is now at the middle school; and Susan Weems, who also taught fifth grade at Troup Elementary. Visiting with Barton below are Navoleine Roddy and third grade teacher Leslie Hartmann. In addition to teaching, Barton has also been active in the elementary's Afterschool Arts Program and was the cheer sponsor for nine years.
