CC teams compete at Pine Tree

The girls placed seventh and the boys 10th at the Pine Tree cross country meet on Sept. 22. The teams will next compete at the Chapel Hill meet held at Tyler State Park on Sept. 28.

The Whitehouse High School Cross Country teams participated in the Pine Tree meet on Saturday, Sept. 22. The race was held at Katy Ranch near Kilgore in the freshly mowed fields amongst the hay bales.

The girls two-mile race had 89 participants, and the WHS girls team placed seventh.

Brittney Wilkens medaled with a time of 13:40 to take sixth place.

Other girls competing were Kami Cook, 22nd, 14:37; Danielle Nelson, 34th, 15:11; Whitney Rankin, 41st, 15:19; Alex Barnes, 54th, 16:11; Judith Clark, 60th, 16:24; and Marcella Rodezno, 68th, 17:03.

The varsity boys competition featured 97 runners on a 3.1-mile course, and the WHS team placed 10th overall.

Timothy Priest led his team with at time of 19:10 to finish 32nd.

Other boys competing were Jordan Scott, 47th, 19:52; Travis Tincher, 52nd, 20:15; Adam Lindenmuth, 56th, 20:41; and Kevin Kapka, 90th, 24:13.
