Tyler Parks and Rec to offer kayak outing

The Tyler Parks and Recreation Department will be offering an advanced kayaking outing from 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 13 at Tyler State Park.

Guest instructor Jerr y Cruse will teach participants kayaking techniques, open water rescue and more.

This outing is for ages 16 and older. Each participant must have his or her own lifejacket. Kayaks will be available but are limited in quantity so participants are asked to bring their own if they have one.

Each participant must preregister by Oct. 12. Cost is $30 per person, lunch is included. Call special events/recreation supervisor Debbie Isham for more information, 903-531- 1214.

Sponsors are Gander Mountain, Simpson's Fitness & Adventure Sports and Hobie Kayaks. After the clinic a demonstration will be provided from 1- 4 p.m. by Hobie Kayaks and Gary Yamamoto Baits.
