Head Start Program at Higgins Intermediate
     Children from the Head Start program at Higgins Intermediate campus show off the quilts they received from the Sowers of Love group. The ladies of the group made 40 Quilts for the Head Start program and presented them at the first of the year, allowing the children to pick out their own quilts. The ...

      A six-year-old boy decided one Saturday morning to fix his parents pancakes. He found a big bowl and spoon, pulled a chair to the counter, opened the cupboard and pulled out the heavy flour canister, spilling it on the floor.

Troup homecoming Friday; court members announced
      Troup is celebrating homecoming this week. Activities include the pep rally at 2 p.m. Friday (in the football stadium), homecoming ceremonies at 7 p.m. Friday night prior to the game with Waskom and a masquerade dance Saturday from 8- 11 p.m. (for all current THS students).

      Induction ceremonies for the National Honor Society were held at Whitehouse High School Tuesday night. Three seniors and more than 50 juniors were recognized and welcomed into the distinguished group. Senior inductees are Courtnie Bishop, Allyson Fulcher and Hannah Tracy.

WHS blood drive set Wednesday
      A blood drive is slated at WHS in the auxiliary gym on Oct. 10 from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. A sign up sheet during lunches will be available three school days prior to the blood drive. Students that are 17 years or older can participate and will receive a free T-shirt.

Tickets on sale for TJC's 'Crucible'
      Tickets are on sale for Arthur Miller's "The Crucible," Theatre TJC's opening production of the 2007-08 season. "The Crucible" follows a retelling of the Salem witch trials, yet with a political slant on world happenings regarding the Red Scare, Communism and McCarthyism.

Holloway Outdoor School scheduled Oct. 9-11
      Holloway Outdoor School Booster Club worked hard all summer to ensure that all fifth-graders at Holloway Middle School can attend Camp Tyler Outdoor School as part of their curriculum which provides hands-on lessons in math, science, language arts and team building.
