Troup Sons of the Legion to meet

Troup Sons of the Legion will meet Thursday, Oct. 4 at 6 p.m. at the legion hall.

Henry Marsh Bell Masonic Lodge meeting

Henry Marsh Bell Masonic Lodge #1371 will meet Monday, Oct. 8 at 7 p.m. at the lodge hall. All Masonic Brothers are welcome to attend.

Retired school personnel to meet

The Smith County Retired School Personnel Association will meet on Oct. 9, at the Plyler Instructional Complex, 807 W. Glenwood, at 2 p.m. Texas State Senator Kevin Eltife will be the guest speaker.

Troup American Legion Auxiliary to meet

Troup American Legion Auxiliary will meet Tuesday, Oct. 9 at 6 p.m. at the legion hall.

Quilters' Guild to meet

The Quilters' Guild of East Texas meets on the second Thursday of each month at Pollard United Methodist Church. Fellowship starts with coffee and goodies at 9:30 a.m. Night meetings are also held on the second Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. at Pollard United Methodist Church.

Troup VFW to meet

The Troup VFW will meet Thursday, Oct. 11 at 7 p.m. at the Troup Library

Shattered Dreams planning begins

Anyone in the Whitehouse community interested in being involved with the planning and implementing of the Shattered Dreams program at Whitehouse High School is asked to attend the first meeting set for Thursday, Oct. 11 at 6:30 p.m. in the East Room of the First Baptist Church. VFW Post 1799 open daily

VFW Post 1799 on Rhone Quarter Road opens daily at 2:30 p.m. for members and guests. Each day offers a different activity such as competitive pool, karaoke and social hour. For information visit WWW.vfw1799.org or call 903-561-3501.

WH Recycle Center temporarily closed

The Whitehouse Recycle Center has been closed due to a fire at the city utility barn. Everyday recyclable items such as paper, plastic, glass and aluminum can be taken to the Tyler recycle center located at 418 N. Bois D'Arc.

Troup American Legion hosts karaoke

Troup American Legion Post 418 has karaoke every Saturday night from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m.
