Shattered Dreams planning begins

Organizers are asking interested members of the Whitehouse community to attend a planning meeting for Shattered Dreams on Thursday, Oct. 11 at 6:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church.

This meeting will kick off planning for the event, which is scheduled in May of 2008. This will be the fifth year for this community-wide project, formerly known as Every Fifteen Minutes.

The Whitehouse police and fire departments, EMS personnel, the school district, and the community have shown their dedication to educating young people about the ramifications of drug use, drinking alcohol and the impact these things have on them, as well as their friends, classmates and family.

Shattered Dreams is a two-day program supported by these groups which challenges high school students to think about drinking, drug use, personal safety, and the responsibility of making mature decisions.

If this program is to be successful, it needs to have the entire community involved in its planning and implementation. Organizers are urging the public to consider participation a priority for the schools, city and community of Whitehouse.
