Troup records 3rd loss

Building off a strong first half, Troup's arch rival Arp handed the team its third straight loss, 28-14, in last Friday's road game.

The district-opening defeat gives Troup an 0-1 conference record and a 1-3 season mark, with the lone win over Sabine.

Arp took a 21-0 lead into halftime thanks to a big game from quarterback Will Allen, who threw three touchdowns and rushed for another on the night.

The Arp defense also came through, holding Troup to 83 yards of offense in the first half.

The teams played a tight third quarter, with Troup's Chance Steele hitting Reginald Wade for a 35-yard touchdown just two minutes in.

Arp struck back on a thirdand goal from the 15, with Allen scrambling before finding an open man in the endzone.

Trailing 28-6 going in the fourth quarter, Troup put together another scoring effort, with Thacher Riddle doing the honors. The two-point attempt narrowed the lead to 28-14, but that was as close as Troup could get.

Troup had 61 passing yard (3-of-10) and 189 rushing yards on the night and committed four turnovers (three fumbles, one interception.)

The stingy Arp defense held Troup's dangerous backfield duo of Riddle and Der'rick Thompson to 93 combined rushing yards.

Chris Lepelley added 14 yards on two carries.

Wade had two receptions for 61 yards, including a TD, and also racked up nice yardage on the ground.

Troup will try to get back on track this week for its homecoming matchup with Waskom.

Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. with pregame homecoming activities at 7 p.m.

The homecoming pep rally will be 2 p.m. in the stadium on Friday.
