The Whitehouse freshman team was one of the few teams in the area last Thursday that was able to get its game in as they claimed a 27-0 win in Kilgore.
The teams were sent to the dressing room with 2:04 left due to lightning, which later led to a terrible storm that brought high winds and rain to Kilgore and blew out transformers at the field and forced a cancellation of the JV game.
The Wildcat defense took the field first and then got a quick three and out series to force a punt.
The offense wasted little time getting on the board as QB Conner Cashion hit Terrance Franklin on a quick swing pass, and Franklin took it 48 yards to the house, and with Johnathan Parker's PAT, the Cats had an early 7-0 lead.
The lead held for the remainder of the half as the Wildcat defense played rock solid to keep Kilgore off the board.
The Wildcat offense continued to move the ball through the air, but one drive ended with Cashion getting picked off at the Kilgore three-yard line and another drive late in the half ended in a missed field goal from 37 yards out.
The Wildcats received the ball first to start the second half and went to the ground gain to take advantage of their size mismatch up front.
The offensive line opened up big holes as Shundrick Beasley carried the ball twice picking up 25 yards. Cashion also had a 20-yard run around the left side of the line.
The drive ended with Beasley going up the middle for a 9-yard TD run, and Parker's PAT gave the Cats a 14-0 lead.
The Bulldogs started to get some offense going on their next drive, but Matt Durst led a defensive stand that forced the ball over on downs at the Wildcat 30 yard line.
The Cats took advantage of the defensive stand, and once again, Cashion and Beasley piled up chunks of yardage on the ground as Beasley finished off the drive with a 6-yard TD run to extend the lead to 20-0.
After Kilgore turned the ball over on downs on their next drive, the Wildcats cast the final blow as Cashion hit Logan Newton on a post route for a 36-yard TD.
Parker's PAT gave the Cats their district opening win 27-0.
The freshman return to action along with JV tonight at Wildcat Stadium as both teams play host to Jacksonville.
Game time for freshman "B" team is 4 p.m., freshman "A" team begins approximately 5:30 p.m. with JV to follow at approximately 7 p.m.
