Junior high Ladycat teams 1-3 at Hallsville The Whitehouse Ladycat junior high volleyball teams traveled to Hallsville last Monday and took one win while suffering three losses. The seventh grade "A" team picked up the lone win with a 25-16, 25-9 over Hallsville. With the win, the season record for this team moves to 3-0 and 1-0 in district. Standouts for the "A" team were Haley Rome and Angela Knight (8 service points each), Cindy Scott (9 service points), and Marci Anderson (7 service points). The seventh grade "B" team fell short against Hallsville 22-25 and 13-25. Leading the "B" team were Chelsea Crawford (7 service points), Bailee Brown and Bailey Riddle (5 service points each. The significant victory on this night was the first ever district game for seventh grade volleyball, and as stated by Coach Shari Knight, "This was a big victory for girls' athletics to have competitive volleyball for 7th grade." In eighth grade action, the "A" team started out slow but rallied late only to come up short in their first game 23-25 and then fell short in the second game 11-25. Madison Melrose came up with a big night with 8 service points while Erica Jordan had 5 points, and Courtney Carter had 4 points. The eighth grade "B" team pushed Hallsville to a third game but lost 6-25, 25-22 and 7-25. Jessica Hernandez took top honors with 14 points while Taylor Allen had 7, and Emily Carter and Sierra Kennedy had 4 points each. The eighth grade teams will be in action on Oct. 8 as they travel to Henderson. Both the eighth and seventh grade teams will be in action Oct. 15 against Marshall at home in C.L. Nix Gymnasium. |
