Community Activities The Quilters' Guild of East Texas meets on the second Thursday of each month at Pollard United Methodist Church. Fellowship starts with coffee and goodies at 9:30 a.m. Night meetings are also held on the second Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. at Pollard United Methodist Church. Troup VFW to meet The Troup VFW will meet Thursday, Oct. 11 at 7 p.m. at the Troup Library. Shattered Dreams planning begins Anyone in the Whitehouse community interested in being involved with the planning and implementing of the Shattered Dreams program at Whitehouse High School is asked to attend the first meeting set for Thursday, Oct. 11 at 6:30 p.m. in the East Room of the First Baptist Church. Garage sale to be held as fundraiser The Lon Morris College Cheerleaders and Dance Team will be holding a garage sale Friday, Oct. 12 from 2-5 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 13 from 9am - 3pm in the small dining hall adjacent to the college cafeteria. Items to be sold will include: household items, miscellaneous trinkets, toys, clothes, shoes, home décor and some student artwork. The general public is invited to attend and all proceeds will go to benefit the two teams during competition in the spring. Everyday recyclable items such as paper, plastic, glass and aluminum can be taken to the Tyler recycle center located at 418 N. Bois D'Arc. VFW Post 1799 open daily VFW Post 1799 on Rhone Quarter Road opens daily at 2:30 p.m. for members and guests. Each day offers a different activity such as competitive pool, karaoke and social hour.
