Person of Impact to be recognized at Chamber dinner The 23rd annual Whitehouse Chamber of Commerce awards dinner will be Tuesday, Oct. 16 in the Whitehouse High School Cafeteria. The event celebrates the chamber of commerce as well as honoring a "Person of Impact" and various educators of the year from the WISD campuses. Tom Mullins will be the keynote speaker for the annual dinner. Mullins is well known in East Texas as the president/ CEO of the Tyler Economics Development Council and the Tyler Area Chamber of Commerce Tickets are on sale at Austin Bank, Regions Bank, Southside Bank, Whitehouse Community Library and Whitehouse City Hall and are $15 each. A new feature this year are VIP tables, which can be purchased for $100. The tables seat six comfortably and will be located up front and feature the company/individual's name on a sign, according to event coordinator Sandra Knackstedt. To reserve a VIP table, call Knackstedt at 903-560-4585. Knackstedt added that the chamber was excited to have a speaker of Mullins' stature be the featured speaker. Under Mullins' leadership, the Texas Economic Development Council has recognized Tyler. He was presented the prestigious Community Economic Development Award in 1997 and 2002 for outstanding local development achievements. Mullins has been president/ CEO of the Tyler EDC since 1989 and the Tyler chamber since March, 1992. Other exciting features of this year's awards dinner will be door prizes for attendees and a silent auction. The auction will benefit the library, one of the chamber's projects. |
