Pat Green to perform at Parents Weekend

Country singer Pat Green will be part of Tyler Junior College's second annual Parents Weekend, set Friday and Saturday, Oct. 12-13.

"Last year's inaugural Parents Weekend was a great success," said Dr. Austin Lane, TJC vice president of student affairs. "We're not sure if we can top it, but we're thinking Pat Green will up the ante quite a bit."

Green is set to perform 9 p.m. Saturday at the Oil Palace. Cost is $35 for one student and up to two family members and $10 for each additional family member. The cost covers the post-pep rally dinner, Saturday morning breakfast, Tailgate Barbecue Party, three Parents Weekend T-shir ts and the choice between three Pat Green tickets or three movie passes to Times Square Cinema.

The weekend kicks off with a campus pep rally and dinner 6-7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12, on the steps of Rogers Student Center on the TJC main campus.

At 7 p.m. Friday, the TJC Apache soccer team will take on Hill College at Pat Hartley Field.

From 9:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, students and parents will be treated to a comeand go breakfast sponsored by the TJC Alumni Association. TJC vice presidents, provost, deans and faculty members will also be on hand to visit with parents and students. Entertainment will be provided by the TJC Jazz Band under the direction of Heather Mensch.

Parents will have free time from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. to tour the campus and visit their students' dorm rooms.

From 12:30-2 p.m., TJC will host a tailgate barbecue party in the parking lot of Trinity Mother Frances Rose Stadium.

At 3 p.m., the TJC Apaches kick off against Arkansas Baptist in TMF Rose Stadium.

Admission to the football game is an additional $3 for general admission or $5 for reserved seating.

Students, faculty and staff are admitted free for general admission with their TJC ID card.

Pat Green tickets are also available to the public at a cost of $25 each.

Tickets are on sale in the TJC Student Affairs office and at Cavender's Boot City.
