Courtney McFarlin chosen 2008 Princess The annual YesterYear Tea was held recently at Victoria Station in Whitehouse to announce the YesterYear Princess for the next Festival, and also to thank the many volunteers who help make the Festival happen each year. Susan Shivers, YesterYear Review chairman, made the announcement, and also extended generous thanks to all those present who work so hard to make each year more special than the one before. Her thanks were also extended to the young women who will serve in the Royal Court for next year as they solicited donations and sold tickets for the 2007 event to earn their titles. The 2008 YesterYear Princess is Courtney McFarlin and her ladies in waiting are Kirbie Harrison and Hayley Fears. Princess Courtney is a 2006 graduate of Whitehouse High. She is a sophomore at Baylor University where she studies nutrition sciences. She is the daughter of Randy and Carolyn McFarlin of Whitehouse. Her grandparents are Jack and Sally Conley of Lindale and Jack and Quanita McFarlin of Bonham. "When my family and I moved here three years ago, the Whitehouse community was so kind to welcome us with open arms," Princess Courtney said. "Having moved around in my life, it was nice to finally be part of a community that feels like home. I am truly honored and feel very privileged to have an opportunity to a part of something so great." Lady Kirbie is also a 2006 graduate of Whitehouse High. She is a sophomore at Baylor University studying nursing. Miss Harrison says she is pleased to be a part of something that is about giving back to the community wants to do her part in helping Whitehouse. She is the daughter of Joe and Donna Harrison. Her grandparents Glen and Jeanie Smith of Malakoff and Jim and Alice Bostick of Corsicana. Lady Hayley, who is a sophomore at Tyler Junior College and plans to attend the University of Texas at Arlington in the fall graduated from WHS in 2006. She is majoring in nursing as well. Miss Fears is the daughter of Tony and Vickie Fears of Whitehouse. Her grandparents are Wayne and Kathryn Fears of Tyler and Jerry and B.J. Morris of Lindale. YesterYear 2008 will celebrate its 26th year, the 4th weekend in June, with a theme of "Magical Main Street." |
