Whitehouse JV beats Jacksonville, 21-8 The Whitehouse Wildcat JV might have thought it would never get to play a game again. After all, with the off week and then the cancellation in Kilgore the following week due to storms, it had been three weeks since they had played a game. In last week's home game against the visiting Indians from Jacksonville, the layoff did not show. The Wildcats played a solid defensive game and executed well on offense in a 21-8 win over the Tribe. Things began to turn Whitehouse's way early as Jacksonville fumbled the opening kickoff, and the Wildcats recovered on the Indian 38. QB Preston Conder immediately went to the air completing consecutive passes to Jamie Antu and Logan Taylor, each good for first downs. Then on second down, Conder hit his backfield mate, Kevin Hickman, on a screen play, and Hickman turned on the burners and was finally knocked out of bounds at the twoyard line. Hickman then punched it home on the next play, and Julio Aleman's PAT gave the Cats the early 7-0 lead. After the Whitehouse defense forced a punt on Jacksonville's first possession of the night, the offense went right back to work. Hickman got things started on the drive with an 18-yard completion from Conder. Zach Lilly then took a pass from Conder to get into Indian territory to the 48. After connecting with Antu on a pass to the 16-yard line, Conder called his own number and carried the ball to the Indian 5. Hickman then got his second TD of the night on a 5-yard run, and the PAT extended the lead to 14-0. However, after putting up two TD's early, the Whitehouse offense struggled to get into the end zone the rest of the half, but the defense continued to stall the Indian offense. The second half remained much the same as the latter part of the first half, but the Indians did manage to get on the scoreboard. However, the Wildcats answered with a TD pass from QB Carson McKown to Logan Wright to put the final score at 21-8. The JV moved their season record to 4-0 for the year and 2-0 in district play as they head tonight to Pine Tree with game time at 7:30 p.m. after the freshman game.
