Whitehouse artist chairing art show

Enneking
Whitehouse professional artist Robin Enneking will chair the 55th Annual Palette of Roses Art show. The Palette of Roses Art show is held in conjunction with the Tyler Rose Festival and will open to the public following the ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday, Oct. 18. The Rose Queen and Duchess will preside over this ceremony.

The show is a free admission exhibit of juried works by members of the league. The show opens Thursday following the ceremony until 5 p.m. and then Friday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Saturday after the Rose Parade until 4 p.m.

The league will offer one fine art piece as a door prize for visitors with the winner announced at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Also, many original fine artworks will be marked for sale. This exhibit is located on the East Texas Fairgrounds in the Mayfair building.

Mrs. Enneking invites everyone to "stop by and view the show, vote for your favorite artwork for the People's Choice award and buy a chance on the door prize."

Juror for the show is internationally recognized colored pencil artist Linda Lucas Hardy, CPSA.

This year Hardy achieved something never before accomplished by another colored pencil artist -- she won the Colored Pencil Society's CIPPY award in the international show held in Bethesda, Md., and the Colored Pencil Society's EXPPY award in the international show Explore This!, held in California.

Hardy is a published artist with her most recent publication in the Oct./Nov. addition of International Artist Magazine.

Enneking jokes that "since colored pencil is my chosen media, I am a little envious of Linda's recent accomplishment with the Colored Pencil Society," but adds "this could not have happened for a more fantastic person. She deserves the recognition, she is a phenomenal artist and kind personality."

The Palette of Roses Art League is a non-profit organization which provides a forum for area artists in Smith County and the surrounding counties to discuss fine art on a monthly basis. The organization also awards annual scholarships to young college artist pursuing a career in fine art.
