Tigers fall to Raiders With former Troup coach John Frazier at the helm, West Rusk defeated the Tigers Friday night, 44-14, handing the team its second district loss.Senior Reggie Wade turned in another big performance, scoring both Troup touchdowns. West Rusk's Daniel Thompson led his team with three TDs in the District 19-2A contest Friday. The Raiders took the lead early, 12-0, thanks to rushing touchdowns by Thompson of 59 and four yards in the first quarter. West Rusk expanded its lead to 18-0 early in the second on a two-yard rushing score. Wade scored his first touchdown on a 10-yard run in the second quarter to close the lead to 18-6. But the Raiders scored twice more before the half, once on a 52-yard pass and then on a 17- yarder for a 30-6 lead at halftime. Thompson scored again in the third quarter on a 40-yard run as Raiders went ahead 36- 6. The final West Rusk score came on an eight-yard rush. Wade added a late score for the Tigers on a six-yard run to finish the scoring at 44-14 and drop Troup's conference mark to 1- 2. The Tigers had 247 total yards compared to the Raiders' 492. Troup had 191 rushing yards and 62 passing yards (3- 7-2), while West Rusk notched 395 yards on the ground and 107 in the air (4-7). Troup plays another road game this week, facing off against Tatum Friday at 7:30 p.m. |
