Lady Tigers improve district mark Troup's varsity Lady Tigers scored two wins last week, defeating Union Grove on Tuesday in a non-district match-up and downing West Rusk Friday to improve their conference mark to 6-3 heading into this week's games against Arp and Tatum. Union Grove fell in three, 25-19, 26-24 and 25-15. Niecy Stewart led in kills with 11, followed by Janna Ross with 7, Alex Collins 6, Lauren Worl 3 and Christina Cline 2. Jessica Ross served up 4 aces, followed by Janna Ross and Stewart with 1 each. Assist leader Cline notched 23, while Jessica Ross added 4 and Janna Ross and Stewart each had 1. Valerie York led her teammates in digs with 9. Other Lady Tiger contributors were Janna Ross with 6, Collins 5, Jessica Ross 2, Worl 2 and Cline 1. Worl also had 2 blocks. Playing their second road game last week, Troup needed four games to defeat West Rusk, 25-17, 22-25, 25-22 and 25-23. Collins scored a team-high 12 kills, followed closely by Stewart with 10. Janna Ross and Worl both had 6, and Cline added 3. Stewart led in blocks with 3, followed by Worl, Cline and Collins with 1 each. Jessica Ross served 3 aces, with Collins adding 2 and Worl 1. York and Collins saved 3 digs each, followed by 1 each for Janna Ross, Worl and Cline, who also had a team-high 27 assists. The Lady Tigers will be in Tatum Friday, with varsity action beginning at 4 p.m. The team will close out the regular season at home on Monday hosting Elysian Fields. The junior varsity game begins at 5 p.m. |
