Seventh-graders drop two out of three games The Wildcat seventh grade football teams entertained the Pirates from Pine Tree last Tuesday winning one of the three games. In the "C" game, the Wildcats fell to the Pirates 14-0 but got solid performances from Ryan Morgan, Anthony Sanchez, Brady Johnson and Olan Cofer. The "B" team did not fare very well either as they were defeated 6-0. Standouts for the Wildcats in this game were Braden Haskell, Alex Fort, D'Marcus Lynch and Devyn Humphrey. In the "A" game, the Wildcats jumped out to an 18-0 lead in the first half then hung on to win 26-14. The first Wildcat score of the game was set up by a 50-yard pass from QB Will Weathers to Michael Nuon. From there, Daimeyen Sanders did the rest ending the drive with a 12-yard TD run. The Wildcats got their next score on a 55-yard pass from Weathers to Sanders, and then Sanders scored right before the half on a reverse from Dylan Cantrell to make the score 18-0. Pine Tree scored 14 unanswered points to cut the lead to 18-14 with 5:58 left in the game. Derek Clemons recovered a fumble for the Wildcats to help seal the win. Whitehouse scored the final touchdown on a 27-yard run by Sanders. Weathers then hit Nuon in the end zone for the two-point conversion to make the final score, 26-14. The seventh grade Wildcats will travel to Marshall on Tuesday of next week. |
