JV recovers from first loss The Ladycat JV lost its first match of the season last Tuesday at Marshall but bounced back with a solid performance at home on Friday against Pine Tree. The Ladycats had a tough night in Marshall and lost a close match in three games 29-31, 25- 16, and 22-25. Sarah Stanley led the way with 17 points followed by Jori Patterson with 18, Ashley Crank with 13 and Shelby Ehrman with 12. Abigail Crawford led the Ladycats up front with 9 kill followed by Mallory Smith with 6. The Pine Tree game provided sweet redemption as the Ladycats defeated their rivals 25-4 and 26-24. Stanley again led the way with 19 points and Crank contributed 12 in the win. "The loss in Marshall was very disappointing. That was the first loss for some of these girls in 50 matches but we just never got on track and Marshall wanted it more that night" said Coach Jon Sheppard. "I was extremely proud of our performance Friday bouncing back against Pine Tree. The first game of the match was the cleanest we have played all year. It was great to see Bailey McCain come back from being out three weeks and play well with 4 kills and a block of the bench" Sheppard added. In other sub-varsity action, the freshman defeated Marshall 25-17, 20-25, and 25- 19 and lost a tough match against Pine Tree 24-26, 25-15, and 20-25. |
