Lighthouse of Prayer celebrating 10th anniversary

The Lighthouse of Prayer Church in Troup is observing its 10th anniversary Sunday, Oct. 28 with special services at 3 p.m. Celebrating to the theme of "The Blessing of a Father," the church welcomes Dr. James Turtnkette of Dallas as guest speaker. Following services at the church at 3 p.m., dinner will be served at the Troup library.

The community is invited to join members of Lighthouse of Prayer and other guests from area churches for the celebration.

The church was founded in 1997 by Pastor Willie Lacy Jr. and his wife, Willie Jean Lacy. The celebration theme is taken from 1st Corinthians 4:15, "For though ye have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel."

The theme reflects Pastor Lacy's belief that the role of a minister is never-ending and a form of father figure rather than just a teacher or instructor.

"The Rev. Jesse Jackson said it's from the cradle to the grave, from birth certificate to death certificate," said Pastor Lacy. "Our 10 years show a commitment to faithfulness to what we are doing."
