Come in costume and get free books at Tyler Public Library

Are you looking for a place to wear that outrageous hat you picked up at a garage sale? Having trouble getting your preschooler out of his superhero cape? Are you unable to convince your granddaughter to shed the princess tiara?

Well, put on your dress-up clothes and head to the Tyler Public Library during the week of Oct. 29-Nov. 2. Everyone who comes in costume to the Library anytime during regular Library hours that week will receive a used book of their choice from the Book Sale carts.

"Over the past three months, we have been collecting a stash of 'previously loved and gently read' books for children and adults in anticipation of this event," said Evelyn James, director of programs and activities for the library. "Like all our sale items, these books have been donated or withdrawn from the library shelves. They don't meet our current collection needs, but each one deserves a loving home."

To receive a free book, simply come to the library in costume, Monday through Friday during library hours. Costumes should be in good taste and suitable for a general audience. Check in at any circulation or information desk and staff will direct you to book carts from which you may make a selection.

Adults may select an item of their choice from the Book Sale carts by the copier on the first floor. Children's books will be displayed on book carts by the first floor circulation desk.

Tyler Public Library is located at 201 S. College in downtown Tyler. The Library is open Monday-Thursday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Sunday, 1-5 p.m.
