Ladycats avenge Hallsville defeat, begin playoffs

The Whitehouse Ladycats had long awaited a rematch with the Hallsville Lady Bobcats.

After suffering a dominating sweep at the hands of the Lady Bobcats in Hallsville during the first round of play, the Ladycats had marked this rematch on their calendars.

The wait was well worth it as the Ladycats got their revenge with an exciting sweep last Friday night in Wildcat Arena defeating Hallsville 25-19, 25-22, and 25-22.

This win forced a playoff game to determine the district title with the Lady Bobcats after both teams finished district having lost only one match and that being to each other on the road.

"Since we lost in Hallsville, it has pretty much been our battle cry that things would be different over here," said a very proud Coach Cheryl Till.

Ladycat seniors Jordan Knight, Katy Kidwell, and Joanna Blake brought all their combined six years varsity experience to the match to lead the Ladycats to victory.

Kidwell led the team in kills with 13, while Knight led the way with 17 digs, and Blake led with 24 assists.

At press time the playoff game had been set for Tuesday to decide the district champion with the bi-district playoffs set to begin tomorrow.

The Ladycats set up the rematch with a tough road win Tuesday in Henderson defeating the Lady Lions 25-9, 28-26, and 25-15.

In the Henderson match, the Ladycats were led by Knight with 14 kills, 12 service points and 5 digs.

Kidwell had 10 kills, 9 points, and 5 digs. Blake had 16 assists, 17 service points and 7 digs while Stephanie Alexander had 21 points, 6 kills, and 4 digs. Alyssa Rome also provided help with 6 digs.
