Ladycats sweep Lady Mavericks

What a night for Whitehouse in taking on the Lady Mavericks of Marshall. The 7th grade "A" team jumped out and put a bite into the Lady Mavs defeating them in two games of 25-1 and 25-9.

With only two players getting to serve in the first game the chances for standouts weren't many. Kelsie Fairbanks started the game with a 11 point service run and Haley Rome followed suit with a 14 point run.

During the second game Ashleigh Crone took the first 11 points and Amy Enlow and Cindy Smith both with 5.

The night wasn't that easy for all the Ladycats as the 8th grade "A" team pushed the Lady Mavs to three games. The Lady Mavs won the first game 22-25 but the Ladycats came out strong during the 2nd game to pull a 25-14 victory and push a tie-breaking game. This final game was a tough fought game to the end but left the Ladycats with a loss in a 23-25 score.

Top earners in this match were Madison Melrose and Erica Jordan both with 12 points and Michele Stewar t and Courtney Carter both with 9.

The 7th and 8th "B" teams took wins for the night. The 7th graders started the evening with a 25-14 win and then fell to Marshall in the second game 19- 25. They won the tie breaker game 25-10.

Top athletes for these games were Brooke Meyer and Raven Hill with 6 points each and with 5 points each were Bailee Brown and Deidre Grider.

The 8th grade match went to three games as well with the split in the middle. The Ladycats jumped out to a 25-16 win and then fell to Marshall in an 18-25 score game. They won the third, tie breaking game, 25- 21.

The top scorers in these games were Jessica Hernandez and Sierra Kennedy both with 8 points each.

The last and final game of the season for all of the junior high Ladycat teams is on Oct. 29. They will be traveling to Pine Tree for the last district match.
