Eighth grade drops 2 to Bobcats

It was a hard night for the Whitehouse 8th grade teams last Thursday at home as the visiting Hallsville Bobcats beat both the "A" and "B" teams.

In the "B" game, the Wildcats could never get on track offensively, and Hallsville rolled to an easy 31-0 win.

In the "A" game, the Wildcats went into the half tied 8-8 but got blitzed in the second half as Hallsville pulled away for a 32-8 victory.

The Bobcats scored in the first quarter to take the early 8- 0 lead. The Wildcats got on track in the second quarter as Justin Bloom returned the ensuing kickoff 42 yards to set up good field position.

After Gunnar Dorsey picked up seven yards on the ground, QB Hunter Taylor hit Nick House for six yards and a first down.

Taylor ended the drive on a 27-yard TD pass to Jordan Peoples and then connected with Peoples again on the twopoint conversion to tie the game at 8-8 headed into the half.

The Wildcat offense moved the ball in the second half, but turnovers stopped drives, and the Bobcats came up with big plays against the Wildcat defense to pull away for the 32-8 win.

Offensively, the Wildcats got solid performances from Dorsey at RB, Taylor, House, Ross Viergever at receiver and A.J. Minter at quarterback.

Defensively, standouts for the Wildcats were Alvaro Lopez, Logan Liptak, Cody Malone, and Minter.

The 8th grade teams travel on the road tonight to face the Lions in Henderson.
