Doris Jean Colley Prestridge

Doris Jean Colley Prestridge, 75, of Houston passed away Oct. 24 after a brief battle with cancer. Doris Jean was born in Palestine on Dec. 9, 1931 the eldest daughter of Paul Sims Colley and Doris Melissa Colley of Henderson. Doris Jean graduated as valedictorian from Henderson High School. She received her bachelor's degree from Stephen F. Austin University and her Master's degree from East Texas State University, Commerce. She spent most of her professional life teaching high school English, chemistry and foreign languages. She had also been a librarian.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Judge Paul Colley of Henderson and Richard Colley of Tyler.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Kimberley Wilkinson Cantele and Chris Cantele, Houston; a sister, Barbara Howard, Tyler, one brother, David Colley, San Antonio; three grandchildren, Ashley Bassett, William H. Bassett IV, and Jacob Cantele; and numerous nieces and nephews

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 3, 2007 at Cathedral in the Pines Cemetery, Tyler.
