Troup ISD High School Report
· Advanced Academic Courses · Recommended High School Program · Texas Success Initiative · Comparable Improvement: Reading/ELA Credit for all this success should go directly to our students, faculty and staff. Without all of their hard work throughout the past year, these achievements would not have been possible. The high school's goal for this year is to be "exemplary" and we are already working diligently towards this goal. THS just finished our first nine weeks and our first round of bench mark exams. Our motto at the high school again this year is "Make It Happen" and our staff and students are working very hard to do just that. Along with Troup High School's academic success our students are involved in a number of extracurricular activities that are either finishing up or just getting started. Football, cross country, and volleyball are some of the sports who seasons are coming to a close. Band and our majorettes just finished their fall competitions last week also. Theatre students have attended a variety of performances and our student council hosted our fall formal during homecoming weekend. We are starting our basketball seasons for both the boys' and girls' teams. Schedules are available online at www.troupisd.org or in the front office of the high school. This year at the high school we are offering a new class for the seniors called "Teen Leadership." It is designed to prepare seniors for life after high school. Shannon Davis is the teacher for this new class and has designed a curriculum to help the seniors see all the opportunities and challenges that await them when they graduate from high school. Some of the activities in the class include filling out scholarship applications, attending college days, and the gathering of financial aid information. We also have a variety of speakers come and address the classes about their professions so the seniors can see what jobs are out there that they may not have considered. We are very excited about how well the class has gone and how much the seniors have enjoyed it. Again let me say that Troup High School has gotten off to a great start this fall. The credit for this great start goes to our students, faculty, and staff. If we can ever help you or answer any questions please do not hesitate to call us at 903-842-3065. |
