Girls cross country takes 2nd place; Priest qualifies from boys team

The District 12-4A cross country meet was held Thursday, Oct. 25 at Jacksonville High School. The Whitehouse High School girls team placed second and advanced to regionals Nov. 3 at Vandergriff Park in Arlington.

Top place finisher for WHS was Brittney Wilkens, earning fourth with a time of 14:17 for a two-mile course. Other placements were: Danielle Nelson, seventh, 15:01; Kami Cook, ninth, 15:26; Judith Clark, 12th, 15:37; Whitney Rankin, 19th, 16:06; and Alex Barnes, 32nd, 17:15. The girls team standings were Pine Tree first, Whitehouse second, Jacksonville third, Nacodgoches fourth, Marshall fifth and Hallsville sixth.

Timothy Priest is the lone boys regional qualifier by placing 10th with a personal best time on this course of 17.56 for three miles. Other boys participating were Jordan Scott, 14th, 18:26; Travis Tincher, 17th, 18:50; Adam Lindenmuth, 23rd, 19:29; Kevin Kapka, 41st, 21:09; and Ricardo Medina, 44th, 23:06.
